My web design career began one fateful morning when a friend of mine showed me how to open a Unix account on campus here at UMR. It was on! I spent the next 3 days writing some of the most gawdawful code known to man creating what would later be known as the John Page v1.0. Far from an artistic breakthrough, it did get me turned on to the possibilities the web had to offer. You know, 200k scanned pictures of my favorite band, those kinds of possibil ities.

The following summer I took a position on campus designing a web site for the Multicultural Education and Support Program (MESP). This is when my roommate introduced me to Photoshop. My days of scanning and "borrowing" other peoples' images were over. I spent the rest of the summer designing the John Johnson Humor Column world headquarters.

I then worked on pages for several departments on campus. This led me to the opportunity to meet UMR's webmaster, Megan Oldfield. After a couple semesters of finding excuses to stop by her office and pick up design tips , she decided to hire me as a student assistant in the UMR Webgroup.

I have also started a web design company, along with my father, called JohnsoNet Web Design (The company is really just an official name for the free-lancing that I've been doing for the past two years). We specialize in non-profit organizations and the work provides a nice source of extra income.

Those of you who have read my Physics history section are no doubt wondering why I have a separate resume for a job in web design. And having read that, those of you who visited my Web section first are wondering, "What physics s ection?" So to alleviate any confusion, let me explain: I want my cake and I want to eat it, too. After all, what good is a cake if it just sits there on the table uneaten? Duh.

So while I'm a poor physics student, I'd like to earn a little (lot) of cash along the way with my hobby. Also, as a student I am always willing to learn more. So if you think you might want me around your design firm's office as a developer or intern, check out my resumes and drop me a line!
