my deepest apologies for a lengthy period of neglecting this website....
we have been very busy and undergoing a lot of changes in the past 5
months. we played a lot of shows. some of them were good.. some were
not. (:
we lost our drummer, arthur. this is a long
story which
basically ends up with, we had personality differences which made him
decide he didn't want to work with us anymore. for some bands this
might have been the end -- but not us. (: instead i have given up
trying to have a live band and have moved over to a completely
electronic underlayer. the drums, bass, keys, and other sounds are all
handled by a sequencer and a keyboard. this works out very well and has
allowed us to move forward very quickly.
we have been writing a
ton of
songs and are working a demo recording now.. it's almost finished. (:
if you'd like a free copy of the tape, please send me email with your
home address. we have not been performing much in the past few months
due to (at first) arthur leaving the band and the necessary regrouping
and reworking of the music that caused.. recently though, we've been
busy recording and that has eaten up much of our time and energy... but
the upside to that is that once we finish with this demo, we intend on
using to to bag a million new gigs... so you should be able to catch us
perfoming again within the next few months. we did do ONE show recently..
which was 'the pagan picnic'... we managed to pull it off, though there
were many complications (the generator wouldn't start up, so no
electricity, then when it did, it caused a VERY loud humming noise in
the PA systems that sounded like a flock of cicadas.. (: ).. anyhow, of
those of you that are still interested in us and our project, thanks a
million and we hope to see you soon at our next show.. (:
btw: we are still looking for more live musicians to add
in on top of the electronic tracks.. so not like.. a full time
drummer/bassist/whatever, but like extra instrumentation like hand
percussion, violins, mandolins, lead guitars, digerido, dulcimer,
anything. (: so please call, email,
or write me if you're interested. later...

*TWANG* *TWANG* *TWOOONNG* *TWING* *TWANG* *twwwaanng*... yep. that's right. i broke SIX strings last night. can you believe it?
indeed. and it's all caught on tape. the show last night, was fun despite an immense amount of effort on the universe's part to make it horrible. (: dominic, our opener, canceled at the last minute, due to parental difficulties. arthur was very ill and had to leave part way through our set, and i broke multiple strings, ruining many of our songs. (: however, phaedrus (aka. major tom or billy reuben), was there to make sure it all was preserved for you, the listener. i will soon have a recording of the show up here in mp3 format. rose had a lot of fun heckling the crowd of people standing outside who were lined up to go into velvet the trendy pseudo-upscale club that was right next door to where we were playing. i had fun playing 80's style synth-pop on the keyboards behind kevin mccameron's poetry.
other than that, we also had a show on the 3rd of march at alaska klondike coffee house in florissant. it was ok, but we were way too loud for the place and didn't get a good overall vibe for the show. plus i was super tired. we were invited back to both place we played, so we might have some more shows coming up soon (more likely at the studio cafe than at alaska klondike.)
speaking of which, we do have another show coming up this friday at south grand coffee company (aka. the gothic coffee house or the gossip coffee house (: ).. we'll be starting around 8 or 9pm and we'll be trading off with dj lazarus who spins 80's dance music and goth/industrial music. so come with your dancing shoes on!! this is another FREE SHOW but buying a cup of coffee would be nice of you. (:
in other news, forest has left the band temporarily, if not permanently, to focus on his study of chiropractic healing. but he'll still be at the shows, jamming with us on the improv bits and giving lectures on the importance of proper communication in your nervous system. if you come, you might even get lucky and get an adjustment.. (:

>yawn< my job sucks. i can't wait until i can make a living doing
music... then i'll only have one full time job... >grin< anyhow, we've
made a lot of changes in the past couple months. we've added two new
musicians, arthur frentzel on drums, and forest peltan on
bass. besides
playing drums, arthur is also a reiki healer and shares the same
birthday
as arthea franklin (as well as, oddly enough, the same two letters
of both
the first and last names...>woooo<). forest also has healing powers
which
he uses as a mercenary chairopractor. we also have information (from a
reliable unnamed source) that he eats bananas well after they've gotten
brown... but we like him anyway. (: we've been spending most of our free
time practicing. we've pretty much dropped the synth tracks in the music
for now, but we hope to incorporate them back into the music
eventually. we've been playing open mics at pony espresso on
thursday
nights fairly consistently, and we have a show scheduled soon. tenatively
that show is scheduled for march 10th at the studio cafe on
washington. i'll send out a newsletter and post more information as it
becomes more definate. we might be playing with a local folk artist named
dominic and maybe we'll have a spoken word (with backing jazz
improv) artist named kevin mccameron (TONG!) open for
us.. dunno
yet. we've written some new songs and are doing a cover! woohoo! i'll
stop the world and melt with you by modern
english. also, i'm
reading too
much asimov. robots are cool. bye now.

hiddy-ho. not much news of recent. but what there is is
pretty significant! erin tyler (immortalized forever in our song
erin's
blue danelectro) has returned from afar. after speding too long in the
far east, she is now living in the area again, and thus has become part of
our band!! she is singing, playing guitar, and keys depending on the
song. also, she has brought with her a huge volume of material of her own
that will be developed into full thtf tracks in the near
future. we are all very excited! also illium has been developing the synth
tracks more and has gone absolutly crazy with violins. also -- he has
learned the danger of listening to too much enigma. other than that, not
much is going on.. we're practicing a lot, working on finding some more
members and have tenuously planned to perform with blake chen again sometime in february
or march on his next tour. hopefully we will have another show before
that, but that remains to be seen. (: also i hope to have at least SOME
kind of recording (even some bad ones) up here fairly soon. i will send
out an email whenever any of this develops to the point of actual
reality. ta ta for now.

well.. the show went great! we played a tight 30 minute set with only minor fuckups. (: i would be proud to display the live recordings except that i forgot to hit the 'record' button. >grin< so the archive will have to start on the next show and be forever incomplete. but hey.. that's what you all get for not showing up to the show. (: afterwards we all were interviewed by a writer for a local college magazine and will soon have a review of the band appearing there. i'll post more information on this when the article is actually published. other than that, not much more exciting news is in place. we are lining up some more shows, i am writing songs like crazy, and i'm adding some meat to the website. the 'bios' section will soon include a full spread on each person including a picture and an email address. also -- having been compared countless times to johnny marr, guitarist for the smiths, i decided to research his guitar style and found out that the comparisons are quite correct. he stole my style... (: more later.

woohoo! the higher the fewer now has a mailing list. if you're not signed up for it already, just send e-mail to thtf@seductive.com and i'll sign you up for it. this is also the new contact address for anything and everything about the band. to go with the new mailing list, we have our first actual 'show' tommorow night! we will be performing at the pony espresso coffee house in webster at 9pm. we will be opening for blake chen who rocks and is from michigan, making his debut in st. louis. please check this guy out, even if you can't make it to the show... he's got plenty of stuff up online in mp3 format on the website. we will be performing w/ laughing man on congo drums, shiva on 808/909, bass, and synth, and of course, illium on guitar, and pariah on vocals. i will be recording the show, so look forward to seeing the mp3s of the live show available here soon..
