i've added some more poems. in other news i moved. i'm now living at the
corner of 14th and division in SE portland. i like it. also, the band
has a couple shows coming up. march 9th is the most soon to come. in
other news, existential crisis is going well. currently completely numb
and experiencing intermittent connectedness with the rest of the
universe. woohoo. beyond that, check out the links section for some new
pertinent sites.. my tea business, my band, and a new URL for this blog!
now it is officially www.chrysalisemerging.be . enjoy.

salem monthly: a paper i'm writing for now.

i have begun writing for a local newspaper called "Salem Monthly" and
possibly selling advertising. i wrote an article on a local native
american celebrity, Chief Quinaby, which may or may not be appearing
in the December issue. i'll post it here soon. the newspaper is a very
exciting
place. the owner is a completely independent runing it out of his own
pocket. he lives in a spare room of the second floor office for the news
paper. the staff is small and vastly underpaid. the content is great and
filling a huge gap in the media for the area. i'm excited to be part of
what they are doing, in whatever capacity i am able to. want to buy an
ad?

well, i'm happy to say i found a band. last saturday i met up with
matt brown and little joe and we jammeth. it was a good time. it was a
short time, because matt brown had to go to work, but we will practice
again soon. they are a cool group of guys and the music is right up my
alley. settling neetly in the indie genre if we were the indie from the
early to mid eighties. something like the replacements, or the pixies.
more info to come. l8r sk8r.

building engulfed by cat. mushrooms hunting deer.

ooo.. halloween. i went to a costume party as a kandinksy
painting on saturday. this inspired me to speak all
night in senseless phrases
intermixed with shouted chinese and other sounds not intelligible to the
portlanders around me. this also inspired me to start work on three new
paintings. i have planned and drawn with coloured pencil three pictures,
destined to be painted in the next month or two. the first is the
poignant scene from Albert Camus' "The Stranger" where Marsault kills
the arab on the beach. the second is from Jen-Paul Sarte's "Nausea", and
is a collage of imagery from the book. the third is entitled "Building
Engulfed By Cat", and fatures two abstracted buildings on fire, with a
cat wrapped around one of them and an a mandolin supporting the other.
they will all be 3' by 4' canvases. feel free to place your pre-order
now. (: then sunday, richard and i spent all day tromping around in the
woods hunting mushrooms and deer.. our weapons? our wits and our steely
resolve, and i found a stick and whiddled it to a sharp point. you know,
it's hard to catch a deer on foot.

i added some poems today. hopefully i will have a reasonably complete
list soon. this morning is a chilly dim day that has people huddling. as
autumn begins here people are slowly acclimating themselves to it.
todays shivers will be tomorrow's warm days once the winter weather
comes. the barista was terse, a spanger asked for a cigarette instead of
money, and there is just a general quietude to the whole city this
morning, as people hurry on to thier destinations. hope i can stay awake
through it.

here is my greyspace. my cerebral outlet for the small set of public
that wishes to consume it. i used to often say that i wished i had a
biographer running around behind me to catch everything i said and did,
so that when i died, they could publish it and someone might
understand. well, i guess that burden is all my own, and i should start
catching this stuff up somewhere, so here it is. this is primarily for
my benefit, but i'd be a real asshole to suggest that it is not also
meant for others, because i could just keep it in my journals if it was
only for me, which of course, is what i've been doing for years now.
this is half an organization tool for me, since notebooks get lost
destroyed or just aren't very organized in the first place, and half a
way of disseminating this information easily to those who want it.
enjoy.
